Tourists are heterogeneous. They exist in different types of categories according to their traveling ideals, goals, incomes, age groups, and so on. Acknowledging and exploring this segmentation can lead us to deliver a better experience for the best individual segment as it is impossible to cater to each possible group at once.
A nuclear goal for My Portugal Up is to identify the consumer segment best suitable for a more extensive stay in Portugal which should include spending more and experience different regional areas and activities. Like so, our platform seeks to promote this particular type of tourism across different cultural backgrounds and simultaneously encourage portuguese entrepreneurship. The market segmentation we develop can and should be applied to any functioning unit in the industry: hotels, restaurants, shops, travel agencies, etc. In doing so, these businesses are constructing a more competitive advantage over places looking to provide all things to all people all the time.
